Here’s a quick glimpse of what you’ll find at Chocolate Fest . . .
* Chocolate Demo Tent - located in the Mill Pond drive, the demo tent will feature demonstrations by some of Chicagoland’s prestigious culinary chefs, who will share their secrets and chocolate creations. Enjoy sampling, demos and contests! Some of the participating experts and vendors in the Chocolate Demo Tent include:
• The Culinary Experience – demonstrations - chocolate brownies and truffles.
• The Candy Bouquet - fudge, candy bouquets and chocolate spoons.
• Escobar Chocolate - unique chocolate bars Barrington.
• Oliver Kita Chocolate Fine Confections (New York) - chocolate bon-bons and molded chocolate solids.
• Tastefully Simple gourmet foods - unique gourmet foods with a twist on chocolate.
• Chiamaya (West Virginia) - custom crafted organic chocolate by the individual batch.
• Starbucks - sampling mocha frappacinos .
• Casa Brasil a new Long Grove shop- exotic chocolates and cookies.
• Demonstration on melting chocolate by Pam Vieau, a local chocolatier whose client lists includes Whole Foods.
• Demonstration by Cyndy Keene from Sweet Treats, a local chocolate store.
• The Wine Cellar - chocolate and wine pairing.
Shops in Long Grove Historic Village celebrate Chocolate Fest in a wide variety of ways. With more than 70 shops, galleries and restaurants, most have samples, tastes or chocolate-themed merchandise. Here’s a sampling of what’s in store:
* Long Grove Confectionery
Come see chocolatiers dipping the Confectionery’s famous chocolate covered strawberries. These are clearly no ordinary berries - fresh, juicy, coated with a special confectioner’s sugar and hand-dipped with luscious milk chocolate. Last year they sold over 5,000 of these delicious dipped strawberries at Chocolate Fest. They’re available everyday, but get there early to sure there are plenty to bring home. And be sure to check out the special Chocolate Fest products that are only sold this time of year. How about fudge – ymmmm. You’ll be amazed to see the 750 pound slab of Chocolate Fudge on display at their tent in Fountain Square.

* Beans & Leaves Coffee & Tea Café Can’t start your day without a brimming cup? You’ll love their many varieties, including Mayan Chocolate Mocha lattes, mocha frappes, chocolate tea, chocolate espresso tarts, black bottom cupcakes and MORE! Located between Red Oakes and the Popcorn Shop in Building # 29. 847-821-0011
* The Apple Haus of Long Grove makes apple cider daily, along with many other bakery and beverage items. Check out their selection on Chocolate Fest weekend, with many specials items only available at this time – this includes the Apple Hous brownie cookies, Aunt Heidi’s Cocoa Apple Pie, and their famous Johnny Pops – a chocolate covered donut on a stick!
Located in Fountain Square Building # 18 – follow your nose!
* The Village Tavern will feature a variety of chocolate martinis and an assortment of chocolate shakes made with Godiva chocolate liquor, Bailey’s chocolate mint and other spirits. They will also feature chocolates from the Libertyville Chocolate Factory, including chocolate dipped strawberries, bananas, apples, pizza and more. Come visit them in the Tavern’s new party room on the lower level. Building 45, across from Towner Green. Phone 847-634-3117
* Casa Brazil - a brand new shop in town, brimming with a wide variety of world famous Brazilian chocolates, including dark and milk chocolates, with cashews or Brazilian nuts or peanuts or chocolate cookies … While you’re there, be sure to see their unique jewelry, fine perfumes and prize winning body lotions by O Boticario and South American food products. * Timmy’s Sandwiches and Ice Cream – is your favorite flavor chocolate – come on by to try all 6 Hershey’s specialty ice cream flavors, as well as a festival menu and fresh pastries. Located in Building #3 on Towner Green. Phone 847-883-8930.
* Lucy & Ethel’s – lots of fun no matter what the occasion. Come try the chocolate trivia game and win a free 8x10 print of that zany TV duo. You’ll also enjoy Hollywood memorabilia and ladies fashions. Located in Fountain Square Building # 21. Really a chocolate lover? Also visit Potpourri downstairs for more of that delicious aroma with chocolate potpourri and chocolate candles. Building 21. Phone 847-478-1932.
* Country House of Long Grove – enjoy free chocolate dipped pretzels, with purchase, and book signings by Lake Zurich author Carol Arvo “Who Lives in Your House.” Also enjoy live tap performances by members of Kristina’s Studio of Dance and improv tap dancer James Kopecky on the Covered Bridge stage. * Mangel Gifts – discover distinctive seasonal home accessories and gifts and enjoy live music all weekend ( Friday through Sunday 10 am – 5 pm) by Bill Robinson and friends on the hammered dulcimer. Located in Building 36. Phone 847-634-3731.
*Ma & Pa’s Candy – all set to celebrate with a May Pole tree filled with chocolate Rice Krispy treats and chocolate tulips. Located in Building 41. Phone 847-634-0450.
* Emporium of Antiques – treat yourself to chocolates and candies, and save half price on each item you bring to be appraised. Located in the lower level of the Mill Pond Shops in Building 12. Phone 847-634-0188
Kids’ Activities – children’s crafts, face painting, kiddie rides, ponies and more make this a great family experience. Visit the children’s area on Towner Green.
